Crooked Weather - Pay My Dues

We have recently been sent the brand new single (out 10th july) by Crooked Weather and the track, Pay My Dues. Crooked Weather are based in East Yorkshire and are an earthy, unruly and original folk band.

This song screams out chilled, laid back summer. Hot weather, feet up and a nice cold drink in hand. From the opening you are gripped to the song, the melodic guitar and brass really keep you listening.

Paolo Nutini in his prime would be proud of this song, up and down of the song is very pleasant, the vocal is extremely strong and fit in perfectly for the genre of music and I really enjoyed the trumpet solo in the middle aswell.

The song is very current and would easily slide into the high peaks of the chart with ease, another good comparison would be George Ezra, his style of folky pop with the brass backing and melodic guitar has been very successful of late and this really does fit in with that genre of music and would easily sit next to his success.

Overall, this is a real feel good, foot tapping song that you will want to play again and again. Could easily be a great song for an opening montage for a film. I really do think these guys have a really big song on their hands and I hope it gets the airplay that it does deserve.

We are really big fans here at the Unsigned Reviewer and we cant wait to see what comes next from Crooked Weather.
