We have recently been sent Charlotte Youngs EP Blown Away and personally I find the title was not misleading at all, I was ‘blown away’.
Whiplash give the album a very strong start. Charlottes story telling throughout the song is what stands out to me the most, and her strong country vocals are prominent throughout the track.
This is followed by the title track Blown Away. You get a full country feel with the chorus with all the liquor references, but again the storytelling in the lyrics stands out to me personally. Charlotte’s battle to get her mans attention gives the song tension and vulnerabilities that make this song stand out.
Half a bottle, carries on from blown away with Charlotte’s battles for her mans attention. This ballad pulls at the heart strings as we hear about Charlotte trying it move on.
The final track on the EP is Passengers Side and it finally sounds like Charlotte has her man, this is a happy ending to a very well told story and a fantastic album.
This is definitely going to make the top of the Country Charts, the story telling and whole emotion of the lyrics makes this album stand out.
Keep your eyes peeled for the release of this EP you won’t be diapointes but you may be ‘Blown Away’
